Hypertension is a leading cause of death and disability in the United States worldwide. As primary care clinicians, nurse practitioners help patients control their blood pressure through lifestyle coaching medication. Among first-line medications for hypertension are calcium channel blockers, such as amlodipine. In US, over 70 million prescriptions amlodipine written annually. Here we present case report significant adverse event due to use amlodipine—gingival overgrowth. We review pathophysiology, prevalence, clinical management gingival also expand understanding this phenomenon by exploring serious health justice implications effect. Unchecked, overgrowth can lead tooth movement eventual loss. Dental changes pain, financial hardship, psychosocial damage. Patients poverty at much greater risk outcome limited access dental care.
